چکیده
Backgrounds: In hyperglycemia induced by streptozotocin, free radicals and oxidative stress conditions occur. This also reduced SOD enzymes while increasing CRP. study aimed to analyze effect of flavonoid-rich taro leaves ethanol extract on levels serum CRP in rats diabetes melitus model streptozotocin. Methods: Experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design 26 healthy were randomly divided into 2 groups. The was given ml aquadest treatment 400mg/kgBW aquadest. Before after treatment, blood collected for analysis using the ELISA technique. Results: level goup before plasebo reduce insignificantly (from 5.37?0.69 ng/ml 5.26?1.50 ;p = 0.830). Furthermore, not signifcantly different 3.39?0.24 3.56 ?0.43 ; p 0.308). increase but significant 5.33 ?1.14 6.20 ?2.64 ng/mL; 0.239). However, decrease significantly ? 0.43 ng/mL 2.93 0.47 nmol/mL 0.009).Conclusion: did Further studies are needed confirm as external antioxidant.

Genetic Diversification and Dispersal of Taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott)
Taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) is widely distributed in tropical and sub-tropical areas. However, its origin, diversification and dispersal remain unclear. While taro genetic diversity has been documented at the country and regional levels in Asia and the Pacific, few reports are available from Americas and Africa where it has been introduced through human migrations. We used eleven mic...
متن کاملTARO “Colocasia esculenta”: It’s Utilization in Food Products in Ghana
In the past, only about 10% of the World population used root crops as the major staple, [1] but presently the diet of most Ghanaians is based on roots and tubers, and on processed cereal grains. The common roots and tubers utilized in Ghana are mostly cassava, yam and cocoyam. Cereals such as rice, maize and sorghum are also greatly patronized. However, there are other important roots and tube...
متن کاملCharacterization of 11 new microsatellite loci in taro (Colocasia esculenta).
Eleven new microsatellite markers were isolated from taro, Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott, a root crop widely distributed all over the world. Forty-eight primer pairs were designed from a microsatellite-enriched genomic library, of which 11 primer pairs have polymorphisms in 30 individuals tested from a population in China, which revealed two to six alleles per locus with the observed and expe...
متن کاملComposition and availability of soluble and insoluble oxalates in raw and cooked taro (Colocasia esculenta var. Schott) leaves
Taro (Colocasia esculenta var. Schott) is a major staple food crop in parts of Asia and the Pacific Islands and is grown as a minor crop in New Zealand. Soluble, insoluble and total oxalate content of young and older leaves were determined by HPLC following hot water (80 C) and hot (80 C) acid (0.2 mol/L HCL) extractions. Young taro leaves contained 589 ± 35.8 mg total oxalates/100 g fresh weig...

The goal of this study was to determine the rat lens aldose reductase-inhibitory effects of 95% ethanol extracts from the leaves of C. esculenta and, its organic solvent soluble fractions, including the dichloromethane (CH2Cl2), ethyl acetate (EtOAc), n-butanol (BuOH) and water (H2O) layers, using dl-glyceraldehyde as a substrate. Ten compounds, namely tryptophan (1), orientin (2), isoorientin ...
